SULPHUR OKLAHOMA TORNADO

April 2024

SEARCH AND RESCUE & AID DISTRIBUTION

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, a catastrophic EF3 tornado tore through Sulphur, Oklahoma, killing one person and injuring 30 others. Another EF3 tornado destroyed multiple homes near Holdenville, claiming two more lives. In response, Aerial Recovery swiftly deployed a team of 5 veterans and 1 non-veteran, including 4 members from the Heal the Heroes program. Working closely with local officials, the team used on-the-ground intelligence to identify the hardest-hit areas and prioritize resources effectively. Over 2.5 days, they provided life-saving aid to families in Central Oklahoma, including medical care to one individual and conducting health and welfare checks on 20 people.

With the support of Aerial Recovery’s partner, Global Empowerment Movement, they distributed 24 pallets of critical supplies—food, water, hygiene kits, tarps, and mattresses—serving 300 families in their darkest hour. The team also protected 6 homes by removing debris and installing tarps, repaired a metal building’s roof and walls, and cleared trees to restore access to a home. Starlink enabled seamless communication with federal, state, and local authorities across 2 counties, ensuring a coordinated and effective response.
